Dr Nygaard is a Senior СŷÊÓÆµ Teacher at the СŷÊÓÆµ of Sheffield. He is also an Associate Professor with Oslo Business School at Oslo Metropolitan СŷÊÓÆµ in his native Norway.
Nygaard’s primary expertise is finance, and his research focuses on asset pricing, corporate governance and individual investor trading behaviour. His recent honours include Best Postgraduate Lecturer award 2021. He has held research fellowships at Harvard СŷÊÓÆµ, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), СŷÊÓÆµ of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
In 2011, Nygaard earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics. Prior to his Ph.D., Nygaard was an Economist at Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) where he worked on several policy-related research projects, including projects commissioned by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Nygaard earned a graduate degree from the СŷÊÓÆµ of Cambridge in 2003, and an undergraduate degree from Bayes Business School at City СŷÊÓÆµ London in 2001.
