Jiarui joined the School in September 2023 as a Research Associate. He is responsible for multiple research projects, focusing on the youth labour market and household finance in the UK.
Jiarui completed his PhD at Cardiff СŷÊÓƵ (2023), on the topic of return to education and over-education wage penalty in the Chinese labour market. Prior to his current job, Jiarui worked as a Teaching Assistant at Cardiff Business School and a Research Assistant at the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD).

Jiarui is interested in Education Economics, over-education issue and the return of over-education in the labour market, especially in the context of China. Other research interests include gender and ethnicity inequality and job satisfaction.
