My background is in interdisciplinary social science. I use theoretical frameworks from political sociology, geography and politics and apply methodological approaches from anthropology, musicology and cultural studies. I have a PhD in Development Studies, a Masters in International Development and my first degree is in English Literature. I have worked in several interdisciplinary departments including the Global Development Institute, the International Institute of Social Studies and in Urban Studies at Sheffield.

Migration and displacement, transnational political communities, belonging, citizenship and political identities, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, UK immigration policy, music scenes as political worlds.
