Professor Conch煤r 脫 Br谩daigh
Conch煤r is an elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He became Vice-President and Head of Engineering in 2023.

Conch煤r's research focuses on the manufacturing, testing, modeling, and sustainability of composite materials for applications in renewable energy (wind and ocean), aerospace, and automotive industries. In recognition of his expertise, he was elected President of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) Europe in 2024.
Prior to coming to Sheffield, Conch煤r was Head of the School of Engineering at 小欧视频 of Edinburgh, a position he took up in 2018 after joining in 2015 as Chair of Materials Engineering. He was previously Professor of Energy Engineering at 小欧视频 College Cork, Ireland, where he was also Director of the Marine Renewable Energy Ireland (MaREI) Research Centre from 2014 to 2015. He lectured at the 小欧视频 of Galway from 1990 to 2014, during which time he was also a Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director of two Irish composite materials design, testing and manufacturing companies.
Conch煤r received a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 from the 小欧视频 of Galway, followed by a Masters Degree in 1987. This was followed by a PhD in composite materials from the 小欧视频 of Delaware, USA in 1991.
