We are proud of our partnership with the СŷÊÓƵ of Law for the future provision of the Legal Practice Course (LPC), Conversion Courses and Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) courses in Sheffield.

Thanks to a collaboration between СŷÊÓƵ and The СŷÊÓƵ of Law (ULaw), students can study ULaw’s Legal Practice Course (LPC), Conversion Courses and Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) courses at our Sheffield campus. The СŷÊÓƵ of Law will be responsible for providing the educational content, teaching and support of both programmes.

Professional courses
Legal Practice Course (LPC)
The LPC is the final vocational stage of training to become a qualified solicitor. You can study the LPC if, on or before 31 August 2021, you completed, started, accepted an offer, or paid a non-refundable deposit for one of the following:
- the LLB
- the / the Common Professional Examination
- the
- the
- a period of recognised training (also known as a training contract)

LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1&2)
The СŷÊÓƵ of Law’s LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) course is designed for graduates who want to qualify as a solicitor using the new SQE route to practice and also gain a Master’s award. We focus on the skills that employers are seeking so that you can enhance your academic knowledge while preparing for the realities of life in legal practice, that’s why you’ll receive four weeks guaranteed Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) within our Legal Advice Clinics. This course will ensure you’re fully prepared for your career as a solicitor, as well as success in the SQE exams.

The СŷÊÓƵ of Law’s SQE1 Preparation course and SQE2 Preparation course are for those who wish to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales using the Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE) pathway to qualification. The courses will prepare you for the SRA’s centralised SQE1 and SQE 2 assessments.

Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL)
The СŷÊÓƵ of Law’s Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) is a law conversion course that teaches you to think like a lawyer and prepare for the realities of life in legal practice. This course replaces our Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and provides the foundation for the pathway into practice for non-law graduates who want to progress onto the , and our to qualify as a solicitor or the to qualify as a barrister.

MA Law (SQE1)
The MA Law (SQE1) law conversion course and includes СŷÊÓƵ of Law’s SQE1 Preparation Course, which prepares students for the SQE1 assessments. The course is designed for non-law graduates who want to qualify as a solicitor and gain a legal qualification at Master’s level. With a strong level of support from the start, as well as four weeks guaranteed Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) within our Legal Advice Clinics, this course is a great introduction to law if you hold an undergraduate degree in another discipline.

MA Law (Conversion)
Unlike the MA Law (SQE1) which prepares students for the SQE 1 exam, the MA Law (Conversion) allows you to study a Master’s level qualification and keep your options open by giving you the option of progressing on to study the to become a solicitor or the to become a barrister.

Scholarships
The СŷÊÓƵ of Law offer a number of scholarships and bursaries to help their students to achieve their career ambitions. The scholarships offered range from financial contributions to full course fee payments and are awarded based on merit, need or a combination of the two.

Scholarships for СŷÊÓƵ of Sheffield students
As part of the collaborative partnership between СŷÊÓƵ and, we are awarding 10 Future Lawyers scholarships worth £2,350 each to students who have graduated from any degree programme at the СŷÊÓƵ of Sheffield and who will start a ULaw programme in the 2025-26 academic year. The purpose of these scholarships is to support Sheffield graduates who wish to progress to study for a professional legal qualification.
In addition to this, every СŷÊÓƵ of Sheffield student joining a ULaw programme in the 2025-26 academic year will be eligible to a Sheffield alumni discount of £250 off their course fee.
The scholarship will be awarded as a tuition fee discount at the start of your СŷÊÓƵ of Law course.
To be eligible you must:
- be a graduating student (as of this summer) from any СŷÊÓƵ of Sheffield degree programme.
- Hold an offer to study any СŷÊÓƵ of Law postgraduate programme in the 2025-26 academic year.
How to apply
- Using this , submit a supporting statement of a maximum of 500 words outlining how you have overcome adversity while studying for your current degree and how this scholarship will provide necessary financial assistance to support you with your career development.
In order to be eligible for the Scholarship you must also be able to:
- Submit proof of successful completion of any СŷÊÓƵ of Sheffield degree programme.
- Demonstrate your intention to study on a ULaw programme by providing evidence of your application and/or offer.
Please note that applicants who are not able to meet these requirements will not be considered for these scholarships. Please also note that these scholarships are subject to .
